The warm friendship of Po and Liu
Throughout our lives
Has been famous throughout the four seas.
We shared poverty and sickness
Together with leisure and retirement.
One is now dead,
The other lives
But on the brink of old age.
We were heroes of the wine cup.
In literary refinement
I acknowledge you my master.
Though the fine and illustrious may perish,
Their spirits live,
Frolicking beneath the earth
With Wei-chih.
